Food For Thought: Pleasing God through Faith

Scripture Reference: Romans 4: 13-16; NIV

Romans 4: 16; NIV, “Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s off-spring-not only to those who are of the Law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.”

Food For Thought:

It was not through the Law but through righteousness that comes by faith that Abraham and his off-spring received the promise that he would be heir of the world. Christ Jesus our Lord was the last heir of Abraham’s seed because He had no son; therefore He will be the ruler of the world. Paul the apostle explains that Abraham had pleased God through his faith alone, long before he had ever heard about the rituals that would become so important to the Jewish people.

Today, we cannot please God except it be by faith. “For without faith it is impossible to please God:” (Hebrews 11: 6) We too, are saved by faith plus nothing. It is not by loving God and doing good that we are saved, neither is it by faith plus love or by faith plus good deeds. We are saved only through faith in Christ, trusting Him to forgive all our sins. Are you patiently waiting on the Lord’s deliverance? Are you confidently trusting that the Lord will deliver you from all dangers; seen and unseen? Then stop complaining about your situation and show it by having a gracious attitude of high praise and worship for the God of all glory. Not a sermon just a thought.
