Food for Thought: Love like Jesus

From The Bishop’s Desk.

Scripture Reference: John 3: 16; NIV, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Food For Thought:

In this verse of Scripture, the entire gospel comes to the fore front. Because it shows God’s love is not static or self-centered; but His love reaches out and draws others in. God sets the pattern of true love here as the basis for all love relationships. When we love someone dearly, we are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God did exactly that when He gave Jesus to die on the cross for us! Actually, He paid the supreme sacrifice with the life of His only begotten Son, the highest price that could be paid for our sins, and then offered to us the new life that He had bought for us.

The next time you share the gospel with others who do not know Christ, think about this: that your love must be like that of Jesus’–willingly giving up your own comfort and security so that others might join you in receiving God’s love. It is not enough just for us to know Him. God sent His Son so that the whole world might come to know him. Not a sermon just a thought.

Know that we are praying for you that the God of all glory will do only good and right by you.
