Food For Thought: From Life-Strain Comes Soul-Strength

I Peter 5:6-10;

Food For Thought:

There are Christians who, when the storm sets in, are like trees which wave to and fro, in the wind, and which, having but a slender hold of the soil, are in danger of being blown down. God can give them such support that they shall be like MAJESTIC OAKS that defy the fiercest blast, or like a LIGHTHOUSE on a ROCK that stands unmoved amid the billows of the raging sea. However, “From Life-Strain Comes Soul-Strength.” (I Peter 5: 9) Says, “Knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

<NOTICE>Literally, the same forms of afflictions. In other words, the sufferings were the very same kind. The infinitive is present; and it should therefore be rendered, “ARE BEING ACCOMPLISHED.” In this verse, the apostle Peter tells us what we must do in this given situation! “WHOM RESIST STEADFAST IN THE FAITH.”

The word “steadfast” is emphatic; it implies solidly, rocklike firmness. Only faith can give that steadfastness—faith in Christ, the Christian’s house is built. Faith here is trustfulness, therefore the rendering of the Revised Version reads “In your faith resist the devil.

In Psalms 78:8, it says, “And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.” Christians must be firm, must endure, must be faithful, truthful, trustful, believe, and stand fast. The fathers of the wilderness experience did not do what the word said for them to do. (1 Peter 5:10)

<Note>”But the God of all grace:” (The God of all comfort) Peter has finished his exhortation; he has told his readers what they must do; he now bids them to look to God, and tells them where they will find strength. God will work within us as He did with them–both to will and to do of His good pleasure; for He is the God of all grace (Favor). Let me tell you something that the word says about God. Only God can perfect what is lacking in our faith; and He will do it. For He is the God of all grace. This is our hope and encouragement. Say amen to that. (Ps. 138: 7-8. Though God may be pleased to put the completion, the perfecting of His work into the future, and make you wait awhile, and make the waiting time, a time of sore trial. Of this, you may be absolutely assured, there are some needs be for the delay. (Psalms 34:19; – Psalms 40:1;)

Don’t concern yourself with the delay! Why, Because the work is in steady progress. All through the time of delay, the issue will be in every way, higher and better because of the delay. Remember a delay is not a denial! (Phil.1: 6;)

v10)Says, “After that ye have suffered a while;” Literally, [A Little] The Word may refer to the degree of sufferings, as well as to the duration of the sufferings. Suffering is transient. Just a little while, it will pass away. But God’s glory is forever; it is eternal. Sufferings may seem very severe, but actually, they are light in comparison with that “far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” (Romans 8: 17-18) Christians have to suffer “A WHILE,” and God knows best how long the “WHILE” should be. (1 Peter 4: 12;)

—-GOD WILL STRENGTHEN YOU—-!

For ordinary warfare, bodily strength is necessary; for the warfare, in which the Christian is engaged, spiritual strength is essential. (2 Corinthians 10: 3-5;)

A feeble, timid Christian will flee before the enemy.(Proverb 28: 1)

—-BUT—-One who is strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, will go and meet him with all confidence. (Ephesians 6: 10;)

God gives strength to His people. His Spirit in the inner man strengthens us with might. And, when temptation comes, we are able to resist it. And, in every conflict, we come off “VICTORIOUS.”

—-BECAUSE—-

ISAIAH 54: 17; SAYS, “NO WEAPON THAT IS FORMED AGAINST THEE SHALL PROSPER; and EVERY TONGUE THAT SHALL RISE AGAINST THEE IN JUDGMENT THOU SHALT CONDEMN.

CONCLUSION:

 OUR DELIVERANCE IS OF AND IN THE LORD. HE IS OUR STRENGTH AND A VERY PRESENCE HELP IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE.

 Even though it is delayed, and you have to wait “AWHILE,” wait on the Lord, and be of good courage. It’s all a Process.
